Completion of two ‘super’ large projects – Gilders Yard and Cheltenham Medical Centre
We are excited to have completed two large projects, both of which were secured in 2020 as Morecrofts announced £5 million worth of new work during COVID-19.
The Wilson Health Centre, Cheltenham
The first is a ‘super’ medical centre in Cheltenham, with client CheltMed Ltd and main contractor B&K Building Services Ltd.
The Wilson Health Centre – an impressive £9 million, 2,320 sq m purpose-built facility – will become home to 3 GP practices that have outgrown their current premises in the town centre. The site hosts numerous fit-for-purpose facilities including 23 consulting rooms, eight treatment and enhanced treatment rooms, an on-site Pharmacy, and more! It will also support practical and modern ways of working for 40 NHS primary care medical professionals and serve 25,000 residents with a broader range of services.
Morecrofts provided both in-house BIM design and installation of electrical services to this state-of-the-art surgery.
Gilders Yard Apartment Scheme
The second of the two projects is Gilders Yard, a residential scheme with main contractor Clegg Construction Ltd and clients Grainger Plc which saw the construction of 157 1 & 2 bedroomed apartments in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
Morecrofts provided the design and installation of complete electrical services as part of the complex £28 million project, which included the construction of new buildings as well as the careful renovation of a three-storey Grade II* listed factory, once home to local jeweller J Ashford & Sons. As well as a co-working space, residents lounge, gym and outdoor courtyard garden, the high-quality site also provides 10,000 sq. ft of commercial space.
