Morecrofts completed the design and installation of electrical services at this new teaching facility at the University of Nottingham.
This project followed on from the work we delivered at the Institute of Mental Health Building completed in May 2012. These two projects represented nearly £1 million worth of electrical works and we are proud to have been entrusted with both contracts.
The buildings were constructed to a very high standard and include cutting edge technology with regard to building energy services. The BREEAM rating secured was to an “Excellent” standard on both buildings and we were delighted to have been involved on the university campus throughout 2012.
Mains distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and access control systems were installed throughout as well as a large array of solar-voltaic panels to the roof of the building. These provide low-cost electrical power to supplement the main electrical supplies.
We were also delighted that the project was shortlisted by Construction News for Project of the Year (under £10m), along with another Morecrofts project also at the University of Nottingham – the Institute of Mental Health.
