Morecrofts Secures Major Education Contract for New Schools in Derbyshire
We are pleased to announce that we have been appointed to deliver the full electrical design and installation for two brand-new schools, Mercia Primary and Newhall Secondary, in Derbyshire. The project has been awarded by leading construction firm Kier, further cementing a valued partnership that spans more than a decade.
Over the past 10 years, we have successfully completed electrical works for seven primary and secondary schools across the Midlands, including notable projects such as Bemrose School in Derby and Wilsthorpe School in Long Eaton. This new scheme, commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE), adds another high-profile development to our expanding education portfolio.
Electrical design work is already underway, with construction due to begin on site in September 2025. Installation of electrical services will commence in Spring 2026, with project completion expected in early 2027.
Morecrofts Chairman, Jared Mitchell, commented:
“It’s fantastic to have secured this long-term, local project for an excellent blue-chip client we’ve worked closely with for some time now. It adds to a growing secured order book for our 2026/27 financial year—something that’s especially important to us as we welcome several experienced new staff into the business. We’re really pleased to be continuing our relationship with Kier.”
This project not only underscores our commitment to supporting educational infrastructure across the region but also highlights our ongoing success in delivering complex, large-scale projects for repeat clients.
