Siemens Mobility Invests £100m in State-of-the-Art Chippenham Factory, with Electrical Services Secured

In a major development for the UK manufacturing sector, Siemens Mobility has announced a £100 million investment to build a state-of-the-art factory in Chippenham, Wiltshire. The facility, set to enhance rail infrastructure technology, will significantly contribute to the local economy and engineering sector.

The project has taken a significant step forward with the awarding of the electrical services design and installation contract to a leading firm. The contract was secured through Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd’s Industrial & Logistics Division, underscoring a major milestone for the Morecrofts.

Construction of the high-tech facility is set to commence in early 2025, with the electrical services team scheduled to begin work on-site in June 2025. The project is expected to reach completion by Spring 2026, bringing innovative manufacturing capabilities to the UK.

Jared Mitchell Morecrofts, Chairman of the appointed electrical services company, expressed his excitement about the project: “It’s fantastic to secure this high-profile project with blue-chip client Bowmer and Kirkland and global powerhouse Siemens. With electrical design already underway, we can’t wait to get started on-site.”

Siemens Mobility’s investment signals a commitment to innovation and growth within the UK’s transportation infrastructure. This new facility will drive technological advancements and innovations in digital engineering, and further Chippenham’s reputation as a hub for engineering excellence.
