Major Contract Secured for New 17-Storey Student Accommodation in Bristol
We’re thrilled to have secured a major new contract as part of Avon Capital Estates’ landmark purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development at 40–46 Albert Road, Bristol. The scheme has now received full planning approval from Bristol City Council, and looks to be a great addition to the city’s student accommodation offerings.
The 17-storey, 454-bed development will overlook the River Avon and sit just a short walk from the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Campus. Featuring a unique cruciform architectural design, the project has progressed through the Gateway 2 process, obtaining full approval in September following extensive design collaboration. We supported this phase by delivering Stage 4 electrical design work to assist in achieving planning consent.
Following approval, we have now secured the contract to undertake the full electrical services design and installation for the project, which is being constructed by Bowmer and Kirkland’s Western Region. Our team is scheduled to begin on-site works in Spring 2026, with project completion targeted for Summer 2027. This project contributes to our recently confirmed £10 million of new contracts for the 2026/27 period.
Managing Director Nick Morecroft commented:
We’re really excited about this project. Securing it gives us continuity in the region right through to mid-2027, following the handover of the 330-bed SAP4 PBSA scheme which we’re now close to completing in Filton for Bowmer and Kirkland.
Being awarded this new scheme is a great reflection of the work the team has delivered over the last year. Stage 5 design is already underway, and we’re looking forward to getting started on site next spring.
