Innovative Farm and Innovation Centre: Morecrofts Secure Two New Projects Totalling £6 million
Morecrofts are delighted to have secured two new innovative projects in the education and food industries, with a combined electrical contract value of over £6 million.
Working with long-term repeat clients, electrical design is currently underway with both schemes soon commencing on site and due for completion in early Summer 2022.
Innovation Centre (IC7) – Keele University
Following the successful completion of the Central Science Laboratory in mid 2019, Morecrofts have secured a second large scheme at Keele University – one of the region’s finest educational facilities.
This major project will see us work alongside B&K Building services and use our education sector expertise to deliver a high tech facility at the university’s Staffordshire site. Electrical services will include the installation of incoming high voltage transformers and full capacity standby generation systems as well as energy-efficient lighting and power systems.
The BREEAM excellent state of the art facility, receiving funding from the government’s “Getting Building Fund”, the Research England Development Fund, and the European Regional Development Fund, will consist of approximately 30,000.00 square feet of innovation space. Featuring a Data Visualisation Suite, offices, and a hi-tech meeting and collaboration area, the site will support the significant uptake in the use of advanced data analytics for SMEs, particularly in Staffordshire.
Innovative Farming
Morecrofts will be providing electrical services to a ‘one of the first of its kind in the country’ farm project – an innovative scheme set to change the game in food industry sustainability.
Morecrofts’ role in this leading project reflects our expertise in delivering major works for the food distribution and storage sector – a sector we have over 35 years of experience in. The benefits of innovative farming facilities of this kind ensure this will be a massively increasing market in the coming years, and this is the first of many we anticipate being involved in.
With site construction works having already commenced, Morecrofts are due to start on the fast track electrical works prior to Christmas.
Supporting cutting-edge projects throughout England
Having not long completed the largest PEM manufacturing facility in the world for ITM Power and soon commencing on ‘London’s greenest industrial estate’ with SEGRO and VolkerFitzpatrick, we’re proud to be further strengthening our portfolio by playing an important part in truly industry-leading, innovative and sustainability-lead projects.
We have also recommended on site works at the large student accommodation scheme on Traffic Street in Nottingham, working directly for the developer following the collapse of NMCN plc.
